Support our Retail and Dining Dollars staying in Minden

Minden already allows alcohol sales in restaurants, which generates some sales tax revenue and jobs. However, there are no alcohol sales in retail stores like Walmart or Brookshires. We’re losing a great deal of revenue by being ‘damp’. By expanding alcohol sales to allow beer, wine and spirits, we can generate much more needed local tax revenues and jobs and give our citizens the ability to shop at home.

The additional revenue added to our local economy will also raise additional money to support law enforcement, schools, and road repair.

State law requires all 5 versions allowing alcohol sales must be included on the ballot, even if one or more versions of alcohol sales are already legal. Voters are required to vote on all 5 issues again to 1) keep existing alcohol sales legal and 2) expand to allow beer, wine, and spirits sales in local stores.

Please take a moment to cast your vote in favor of all 5 Minden alcohol propositions.

Expand Minden Business and Tax Base

We would love to be able to cater the adult beverages for our event venue, which would help grow our business and add to the tax revenue of Minden and Webster Parish. Vote YES on the Propositions.

We all deserve the right to vote on this

L.B. Taylor, 40 Year Minden Resident

I’m 89 years old and I had to sign the petition five times in order for 1 signature to count. All the people of Minden should be able to vote on this issue and I hope they vote to let people shop locally.

People ask all the time why they can’t buy alcohol in our store since the Dixie Inn stores are just a couple of minutes from our parking lot. I explain that voters haven’t approved alcohol sales in retail stores, so they leave and drive a few hundred yards down the street—and Minden loses. We lose sales tax, jobs and money that could be used to fix our roads and pay our law enforcement officers. Please join me in voting “YES” on all the propositions to support our retail stores and restaurants.

Sales come from people outside city too

Rachael Lonidier, Webster Parish resident

Don’t forget, it’s not just the people who live in the City limits who will be shopping at your stores. I may not live inside the city limits, but I sure spend my hard-earned paycheck in Minden. By Minden voters saying “yes” I have the chance to support Minden retailers and they get the benefits, too.
